Global Leading Market Research Publisher QYResearch announces the release of its latest report "eCall Terminal - Global Market Share and Ranking, Overall Sales and Demand Forecast 2026-2032". Based on current situation and impact historical analysis (2021-2025) and forecast calculations (2026-2032), this report provides a comprehensive analysis of the global eCall Terminal market, including market size, share, demand, industry development status, and forecasts for the next few years.
For automotive OEMs, telematics suppliers, and regulatory compliance officers, reducing accident response time and casualty rates is a critical safety imperative. The global eCall Terminal market addresses this need through an on-board emergency call system composed of a vehicle terminal, mobile communication network, and PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) call center. The eCall terminal is a car-grade product designed to function normally even after a violent collision. Triggering methods include automatic (airbag deployment detection) and manual (in-car button). The system combines GPS or Beidou to accurately transmit vehicle location, time, and vehicle information to the nearest emergency rescue center, enabling timely rescue operations.
The global market for eCall Terminal was estimated to be worth US$ 2154 million in 2025 and is projected to reach US$ 4711 million, growing at a CAGR of 12.0% from 2026 to 2032. In 2024, global production reached 22.44 million units, with an average selling price of US$ 95.71 per unit. This robust growth reflects expanding mandatory eCall regulations worldwide.

Next-Generation eCall for Post-Crash Rescue
The eCall emergency call system is a system composed of an on-board eCall terminal, a mobile communication network and a PSAP call center, which can effectively improve the timeliness of traffic accident rescue and reduce the accident casualty rate. The eCall terminal is a car-grade product and can still work normally after the vehicle encounters a violent collision. Even if the eCall system fails due to an accident, once it detects that the automatic triggering conditions are met, the eCall system will try to make an emergency call to the maximum extent, report the minimum data information and establish a two-way voice call. The triggering methods of the eCall system include automatic triggering and manual triggering. Manual triggering can be activated by the eCall button or voice call in the car. Automatic triggering is when the in-car sensor detects that the vehicle has collided and the airbag has popped out. The emergency call is made through the vehicle communication module. The eCall system combines the global positioning system (GPS or Beidou) to accurately obtain the vehicle's location information and transmit the information to the emergency rescue center in the nearest area to report the relevant information of the accident, such as location, time, vehicle information, etc., in order to carry out rescue activities.
The EU's new generation NG eCall system is an upgraded version of the traditional eCall. It is mainly optimized for the technical standards, data transmission capabilities and network compatibility of the vehicle emergency call system: that is, it is upgraded from 2G/3G cellular networks to 4G/5G and IMS technology. It no longer relies on voice channels, but uses IMS technology to achieve concurrent transmission of voice and data, which greatly increases the data transmission rate while expanding data capacity.
Market Drivers & Regulatory Landscape
The most critical factor that has significantly increased the attention of eCall is that the mandatory national standard "Vehicle Accident Emergency Call System" (AECS) is currently in the "approval" state. Combined with the early planned implementation date of July 1, 2027, considering that there is usually a buffer period of one to one and a half years from the release of the standard to its formal implementation, the release of the national standard AECS may not be far away. Since the EU, the United Kingdom, Russia, India and the United Arab Emirates have listed vehicle emergency calls (eCall/ERA-GLONASS) as mandatory requirements, many exported domestic cars are already equipped with eCall terminals. Once the mandatory national standard is officially implemented, it means that all passenger cars sold in China must be equipped with eCall or NG eCall terminals, and new markets and competition will emerge.
Since eCall products have mandatory installation and obvious pre-installation attributes, newly produced vehicles are the target installation group, and vehicles that have been put on the market and second-hand vehicles are not considered for the time being. The penetration rate of eCall systems in new cars in China will increase rapidly starting in 2025 due to mandatory installation. It is expected that by 2027, new cars will be basically covered, with a penetration rate close to 100%. The market size will also reach its peak around 2027, and the market size will gradually stabilize thereafter.
Industry Segmentation: Trigger Types & Vehicle Categories
The eCall Terminal market is segmented by activation method and vehicle type:
Manual Trigger: Activated by eCall button or voice command. A driver assistance study reported that manual triggers account for 30% of eCall activations in non-severe accidents.
Automatic Trigger: Activated by in-vehicle sensors detecting collision and airbag deployment. Critical for severe accidents where driver may be incapacitated.
Application Segments
Passenger Cars: Largest segment, driven by mandatory regulations in EU, UK, Russia, India, UAE, and upcoming China AECS.
Commercial Vehicles: Trucks and buses, where faster emergency response reduces liability and improves safety ratings.
Technology Developments & Market Trends
Over the past six months, several advancements have shaped the market. NG eCall migration from 2G/3G to 4G/5G IMS technology enables concurrent voice and data transmission, increasing data rate and capacity. Integration with eCall and emergency call centers (PSAP) for automated crash notification. Beidou/GPS dual-mode positioning for location accuracy in China market.
The trend toward connected vehicles and telematics integration positions eCall as a standard feature in new vehicle platforms. Regulatory mandates (EU, UK, Russia, India, UAE, China pending) drive global adoption. Post-2027 market stabilization with replacement and upgrade cycles for NG eCall.
Regional Market Dynamics
Europe leads the eCall terminal market with mature NG eCall deployment and EU regulation. Asia-Pacific is the fastest-growing region, driven by pending China AECS mandatory standard (implementation July 1, 2027) and large vehicle production volume.
